Nails in
Stages This video is made for the beginner to the intermediate to the well seasoned nail technician. To be a successful nail tech one must have correct product knowledge and education and the Nails in Stages video is a perfect example of what good product education is. In this video, Tammy demonstrates the 5 stages of Nail performance so whatever stage you may be at you can continue to perfect your skill.
In Stage One - Tammy demonstrates the basics of nail knowlodgy-- product consistency. By achieving the correct liquid to powder ratio the perfect ball can made. Perfect balls make beautiful nails and Tammy knows this as she shows how the brush is used to correctly drag into the powder to pick up that perfect ball. Tammy then shows how to use the practice sheet to increase speed and technique.
Stage Two - shows how to apply a clear nail tip and overlay with clear TT powder. This stage will allow the beginner to complete a full set of nails by using the 12 step system. Tammy emphasizes the “all 10” in her 12 step system to increase speed and nail perfection! In this stage Tammy will show you how to apply clear tips with glue and proper blending of the tip using the purple terminator. Etching properly will eliminate 75% of lifting.
Stage Three -demonstrates a clear tip with a pink & white overlay. The first process is to apply the clear nail tip without creating scratches on the nail. By using the purple terminator, Tammy etches the nail and removes excess cuticle with the pterygium stone. The application of primer should be in 2 coats however it should be used sparingly as not to come in contact with the skin. Proper consistency shown in stage one is used here to overlay the nail with pink & white acrylic.
Stage Four - applying the clear nail tip with clear acrylic and then overlaying with pink & white TT acrylic. Applying a tip using acrylic makes a very strong bond, stronger than glue. Remove excess cuticle, dust the nail with a sanitized nylon brush and apply 2 coats of primer to prepare the nail for tip application. Place a small ball of clear acrylic in the well of the tip and rock it onto the nail plate. Be careful as not to allow any acrylic to ooze out from under the free edge. Tammy continues to show the proper prep for the pink and white overlay.
Stage Five - known for being the most difficult type of nail to create but the one to aspire towards in our nail careers is the Pink & White Sculptured nail using a form. It will make us a lot of money! Tammy exhibits the proper application of a nail form and a C- curve. She applies the white free edge and creates a “happy face” using the form. Referring to the basics in stage one again, she creates the nail body with 3 pink balls and we are shown how to make a perfect pink & white sculptured nail. The 12 steps are reiterated here for completed the process of nail application!!

Full Set of Sculptured Nails
I learned how to do pink and white. Which I never did before and they are beautiful. Also how to do a beautiful sculpture. I think the system is great. It is easier to use than most. It is more flexible and more durable.
Out of all the systems I have used I like it the best. The way Tammy teaches you I like. You can work at the same time as her and learn, also. She is a great teacher.

Tammy, I was recently privileged to be able to go to a two day seminar in California in which you were teaching. I was amazingly blessed to receive so much information in such a short amount of time. The new technique you taught is fabulous! Every time I start to do nails the old way I picture you over my shoulder saying "use the tip of the brush". My smile lines make me smile without a lot of effort now.
I learned my shop is "my shop", and even though some work is done by other employees, my name is the one on the line. Your videos are great as well, because they are like having you and your wisdom whenever I need help. I have a hard time with holding the files right, so I am able to get the instruction I need from your videos. Sometimes I get off track and try to do things my way, but the videos refresh my steps.
The most important thing I have learned is; someone will always be there to talk me through any business or product problem I may have. And that is a great comfort, as I learn to better my skills and business each day.
Thank you and God bless you! Lorri "Nikki" Voltmer

I have struggled with my backfills for months and decided to take the challenge and enter this contest so I would have to watch the video over and over to write the theme. My back fills take me over and hour and the nails become too thick, and have fill lines, shadows, and old product lines. My strong points that I am proud of is that I use all one product line(Tammy Taylor) and my station is simple, organized, and sanitized. My weak points are (1) filing the pink flush to the cuticle with the purple terminator and using the aluminum oxide file on the lifted acrylic (2) Not drilling out the smile line deep enough and beveling the white of the free edge (3) My white ball is not wet enough when filling the white free edge, making the edge too thick and stroking the product to the end of the nail.(4) Using only two balls for my fills.(5) I found that I file way too much,if the product is put on smooth , that much filing is not necessary. I have done better fills this week knowing what I need to work on. I love to make more money and do the most beautiful nails in Ogallala,Nebraska. Thank you Tammy for providing the vehicle to achieve this dream.

Deborah Spencer I studied cosmetology therefore did not get to work very much with nails. I decided to become a nail tech and was trying to do everything by "the book". I was able to do the taught ball method but the nails I applied were not smooth they was thick and required alot of hand filing.
After receiving the Tammy Taylor video and practicing the methods taught on the video I am now able to apply the nails in a much quicker and smoother fashion. I am still slow putting on a full set of nails but they required very little filing. I have more self confidence and do not hesitate to do any application my clients wants.
Thank You, Deborah Spencer

Ann Hardwick Tammy,
After watching any of Tammy’s videos I go back to work feeling more confident. I find that no matter how many times I watch them, each time I seem to pick up something. Watching the videos is like reading a chapter in a textbook over and over again. Each time the information sinks in a little deeper and becomes clearer. In the Full Set of Sculptured Nails for Nailbiters video Tammy explains the products needed to complete the full set and demonstrates the application of the full set of pink and white sculptured nails on a nailbiter. The application follows Tammy’s famous 12 step system with the addition of a nail bed prosthesis to extend the length of the nail bed. The prosthesis is added before the forms are placed on the fingers. The forms are placed at the edge of the prosthesis instead of under them and the white or free edge ball is placed in front of the prosthesis so that it doesn’t make the nail too thick. The white is patted and shaped in the same manner as usual. The pink balls are slightly smaller than usual, and also lightly stroked to blend. As Tammy files the nails she explains the importance of making them very smooth and being careful not to leave any rough edges for the nailbiter to pick at. Nailbiters are perfectionists and will pick at any little imperfection. When Tammy is finished, the nails she applies A-Coat to do not even remotely resemble the nails she began with. It is obvious that Tammy enjoys what she does. What I learned from this and every other Tammy Taylor video is you need to enjoy your work! I also learned that it takes a lot of practice to perfect my skills, practice, practice, and more practice!

Sloan Fortenberry Secret to proper nails, you have a small ball , medium ball ar a large ball.... According to the size of ball , will determine the size of the nail. You dip brush all way in liquid to the medal of the brush. Wipe off the brush dip again wipe away just the tip.,and drag half way across powder when you want a large ball, place on the area, the white powder,on the free edge, lte i flowwait, then pat, line up one side , line up the other side.,then make a happy face , then even the free edge, finished the free edge.,
The second ball,,dip brush in pink powder wipe off the brush , drag in the pink powder,,pearl look, place,, and then stroke it ,, feather like brush...,
The third ball , dip in liquid wipe , dip in powder,. Powder look like pearl,.. Place close to cuticle , let spread, then stroke and feather it ...
Forth ball clean brush, wipe off with the wipe on towelette,. Dip in the liquid, drag half way and dip in pink liquid and pearl look and place onthe nail , set for a little and feather it.. Let it dry,
Check made sure dryed, then file the bevel one side of the nail, across the top bevel down the other side, , horseshoe pattern continue the same motion all the way to the free edge.
File around cuticle area making sure there is a little road between the acrylic and the cuticle.... I would love to be able to make more money.....
Thank you for this chance to learn more about T.T.

Frances M. Gallegos My name is Frances Gallegos. I live in New Mexico and I have been doing nails professionally (part-time) since October of 2000 using the Tammy Taylor method. I have watched the videos several times and I still do when I need a little inspiration.
When I was in school to get my manicurist license, I went online to the Tammy Taylor site and printed the "Helpful Items" section, which also has the 12 steps and questions and answers to the 40 most commonly asked questions. I put this in a binder and refer to it from time to time.
I also go to the classes when they are offered in New Mexico. This practice has helped me to produce beautiful sets of pink and white acrylic nails since I started, and will only continue to help me in the future not only to produce the nails that I am proud to call my own work, but to make the kind of money I was hoping to make when I got into this profession.
The video I recently purchased to watch and report on was the Backfill video. I have been doing backfills since I started, and you would think I would know everything there is to know about them, but I learned a few more things that I will keep in mind when I do my next backfill.
1. Do not shorten the length of the nail until you have finished applying the product because sometimes when you do it before, you can cause the nail to become weak and cause cracking and/or lifting.
2. Do not spend too much time filing the sides of the nails. Doing so will only weaken the nail.
3. I have been having a little trouble with shadows every once in a while. I learned that you must drill down the pink acrylic that has grown out very thin in order to apply the new white acrylic evenly. This is the solution to the shadow problems I have.
4. I need to purchase a carbide pencil drill bit.. I have been using a regular barrel drill bit, and it looks like I could save some time and energy by using the pencil drill bit instead.
5. This I have learned ever since I have used the Tammy Taylor method, but I need to add it in because this is the most important. You must look at your client's nails and file looking at the client's angle. This really helps you to see if there are any bumps or dips in the product that sometimes you cannot see looking at your angle.
It also helps to make sure that you have filed them straight. My clients really appreciate that I do this for them, and they tell me so. It shows that I take pride in my work and that I strive to make their nails look beautiful.
I would have not known this step if I had not viewed the instruction tapes or taken the classes Tammy offered.
I have watched other Nail Technicians that do not use the TT Method doing nails and they are not aware of this step. This will only give me the edge over them. The proof is in the money I make and the clients that I keep.
Thanks for sharing all your secrets Tammy!! It has helped me to become the Nail Tech that I always wanted to be!!

This video is a very necessary one to have on hand. Many times a client will present severely bitten nails where fitting a tip is just impossible. In this video Tammy shows us how to create a gorgeous set of pink and whites on a nail biter.
You will first want to follow all stages of prep which are vitally important when working on a nail biter. The nails must be etched and the cuticle must be pushed back and cleaned off the nail plate. Pushing back the cuticle will expose a bit more nail plate to work with.
When working on a nail biter, you will need to create a nail plate by extending the pink acrylic out onto the skin keeping it thin. This will make it look like the client has a longer nail bed then she actually does. Next, butt the nail form up to the pink and make a white free edge and then add 2 more small balls of pink to the nail bed to blend and complete the nail. When properly done, this type of nail will be the strongest.

Dear Tammy, I have put off entering the contest untill now. I have held my license since June 2003, in the state of Florida. I have quit doing nails twice in that time. I had very poor instruction at the school I attended. Our teacher had so many personal problems that we had very little of her attention. Her credentials were that she had a cosmetictlogy license and had done nails twenty years ago. She did drill into us the importance of proper sanitizing. I love doing nails and still have many problem areas. A nail technician I met told me about your products and how wonderful they were, so I tried them. About that time a class was offered in Jacksonville, Fl. I took it and won a tape of PINK & WHITE TOENAILS & BACKFILLS. I was not taught how to do toenails or backfills. The tape was the most powerful and informative instruction I have had period! Since then I have purchased several tapes and use only your products. There aren't words to describe the power of the switch that was turned on. The education on that tape has helped more than you know. I was excited and couldn't wait to get back to work. I am still working and getting better all the time. I just got mad and wouldn't let it whip me, this I owe to your tapes and products that work so well. To meet you would be so great, but to be taught by you would blow me away. Thank you so very much for the inspiration ,

This video is the primary tool needed to learn the basics of acrylic consistency. In this video, Tammy demonstrates how to use the practice sheet and how to pick up a beautiful acrylic ball. To make beautiful nails, one needs to have the basic information of how to create the foundation of that nail which is the proper mixture of monomer and powder.
We are shown how to make all three ball sizes needed to create a nail. Each ball size has its own liquid to powder ratio and in this video Tammy shows us how to do just that. No more guessing at how to get it right!! By using the practice sheet on a daily basis you will get faster and better at making a beautiful set of nails.

Margaret Camarillo Tammy: My name is Margaret Camarillo. I recently received my first Nail Technician license. During my 5-month "training" period I had the opportunity to attend two of your classes, watch the 9 techniques video, and train at Provence. I can't ever say enough about how much I have learned from all of these experiences. The proof is in the pudding when my clients come back every 2 weeks with all TEN of their nails still in tack and with hardly any lifting. Most of all they are all happy with their nails! I am really looking forward to attending another class this April.
I just watched the 9 techniques video again and it seems that I learned things that I didn’t see before. It was definitely refreshing. Even as a newbie I had been forgetting to work on my practice sheet. I will make it a point to watch this video at least once a month to remind myself that I can make this a career that is both profitable and FUN!
I look forward to the day when I have a full clientele AND do the next best set of nails in Tucson...that would be next to Rachelle of course! I thank you for all of the extra encouragement and support that you have given me in both of the classes and the video!
Thanks Again!

Aimee Emrick I have learned so much from Tammy Taylor educators and classes, first and foremost, it's not okay to be mediocre, at anything! Better education means better services, better services means a happier clientele and therefore a happier nail tech!
I have been a nail technician for 13 years and I spent the first seven using second rate products. The day I was introduced to Tammy Taylor products six years ago, it has been a learning experience ever since.
I always enjoy a good class, and Tammy puts on the best. I love to watch her get right down to it and do nails herself. Anytime I have a question, there is somewhere I can go immediately and get an answer, whether it be through Leta, a video, or the website.
One of my favorite things I learned at a class was how to do a backfill and not be afraid of the electric file. I went from hating backfills to, making it one of my best services. I actually used to soak off every time someone wanted a backfill!
Practice, practice, practice, just like Tammy says in her classes.
In summary, I would like to add, it is not just the classes that I enjoy, it is the entire Tammy Taylor support network. Thank you Tammy for giving nail techs everywhere the inspiration and support to always exceed our best.

Kimberly Cummins Good Morning, Everything I needed to learn I learned from Tammy Taylor video. I just finished school, however, there was so much I wasn't taught. I'll just make a list.
The 4 ball method, we were taught a simple 3 ball. The 4th ball makes a difference. Big Difference.
Tips with overlay: we were taught to pat, Tammy taught me to stroke. Backfills period. When I asked school what was a backfill they said you fix the smile line but I was never showed.
I taught myself and use Tammy as a guide. The most fascinating tip I learned from Tammy video was the the acrylic use with a tip instead of glue. I was wowed by that one. I had been trying to help a lifter by using different products, Tammy taught me how to use just her products. Tammy is my lifeline now.
I have already signed up for a Feb. 6th seminar but I can't get enough information. My husband is in Baghdad. We are short on cash till I get into a salon and make some money. I think the only way to make that money is through continuing education.
Tammy I love your products, your teaching methods, put simply Tammy I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please help me become the nail goddess you are. Kimberly Cummins
The videos are Nine Most Popular Nail Procedures and Faster Nails With Product Consitency.
Kimberly Cummins The "Nails In Stages" video by Tammy Taylor is great for new and seasoned techs alike. The video teaches 5 'levels' of acrylic nail application, each building on the previous level. Each level is thoroughly explained and visual demonstration provides additional perspective on what the words actually mean. The video starts with the basics that are KEY to successful, beautiful nails; yet so many nail techs forget, or are never taught this information in school. Product Consistency is VITAL to good acrylic application. Good application is the entire foundation of beautiful acrylic nails. Good application provides strength, durability, and structurally sound nails that last. The video stresses that product consistency is best learned by PRACTICE! Practicing with the Tammy Taylor practice sheet reminds me to keep a watchful eye on my consistency to prevent regular application of product that is either too wet or too dry. From the basics of product consistency you build to the next level of beautiful nails. The video thoroughly explains and demonstrates proper prep procedures to ensure your beautiful acrylic nails stay where you put them. Proper prep procedures will eliminate 75% of any lifting problems. With minimal lifting, future services are an enjoyable experience. Tammy teaches the proper way to place nail forms, WHY pinching a "C-Curve" is so important, and WHERE to pinch your "C-Curve" to achieve maximum durability with an overall balanced look. The video makes understanding acrylic service SO easy to understand, practice, and perfect. By learning proper procedures, practice and repetition you will build confidence and speed. Creating beautiful, lasting nails like this will ensure clients will always be proud of the services you provide, and so will you. To me, that what makes this business so enjoyable. Candy Corbin by
Candy Corbin Right after graduating from nail school I was very excited and ready to work, however I knew very little about the service I wanted to specialize in, acrylic nails. 99.9% of what I had learned was self-taught BEFORE I attended nail school. I had a burning desire to learn all that I could about acrylic applications, and I knew that I would not gain the education I needed without someone's guidance. My biggest challenges at the time were all about repeating the same INCORRECT procedures over and over. A few 'seasoned' friends in the business suggested getting a Tammy Taylor starting kit (which included the 9 Most Popular Nail Procedures) and attending a Tammy Taylor class. The video was more informative than I ever imagined possible (and the class was fun too!). I believe the videos' thorough product knowledge and demonstrations were more beneficial to making the whole video easy to understand and to learn from. I love the video because of it's in-depth information and visual demonstrations provided by a fellow nail professional that started out with the same challenges we all face, 8 hours on the first set of nails. Now Tammy Taylor can do a full set in under 20 minutes, and that is something to give us all hope!! Tammy starts with the most basic information, in plain English, and gives confidence to all who watch her work. She teaches using the practice sheet to learn the most important basis of all, Product Consistency! From this, you learn to control your product application, shaping during application, and correct techniques that help you build speed. She makes everything so simple and easy to understand. . . all 10, all 10, all 10 with each and every step. She also goes through each prep procedure many times throughout the video to ensure audience understanding. You learn proper prep procedures to minimize lifting; which files work best and when to use them; the difference between the white, black, and gold forms. A visual and verbal teaching of what to look for in the shape of a nail, which form to use, plus proper application techniques for applying the forms. She also demonstrates odor-less products, proper drill usage, talks about uses of each bit, then demonstrates their usage. I could never follow 'instruction' on a backfill until I saw video, now it all makes sense. She even demonstrates and thoroughly explains the application of beautiful nails on a nail biter, and that is something nobody else teaches. In a nutshell, "Thank You Tammy Taylor for your long distance education and confidence. You have helped me to keep my faith, burning desire, and determination as a nail tech who can now create not only beautiful acrylic nails, but beautiful Pink and White Acrylic Nails!" Candy Corbin
